This is the development blog for Rapid Site, the third incarnation of the Web Site creation software from ufindus.com.
I’m Stuart, I’m the main developer working on creating the new version. My boss Stuart Forrest is extremely enthusiastic about the project as he feels it will bring new value and benefits to our current Rapid Site customer base (which I believe extends to over 20,000 customers), while simultaneously making UFU the obvious choice for small business looking to have an affordable quality web presence.
Over the course of the development cycle this blog will keep visitors up to date with the current stage of the build as well as plans for future growth and change.
For those of you not familiar with the product it is a means to assemble a simple web site based on a range of templates. It has been used by UfindUs (UFU) customers for some years and produces reasonable results, and is especially good at producing Search Engine friendly sites. So why fix it? Well the sites it produces were limited in scope, a bit ’samey’, didn’t work well with Mac users (trust me, you upset Mac users and you’ll find your walls sprayed with carefully crafted shiny icon graffiti in unusual fonts) and not too exciting. So my role is to produce a web based application (Rapid Site 1 and 2 were software you actually loaded onto your PC) that will address some of Rapid Site 2’s shortcomings while maintaining it’s great search engine visibility.
Stuart, being an understanding kind of guy says there’s no rush, just get it done when I find time.
Sorry Stuart, I’m getting back to work now, honest.
